On Saturday September 10th, the San Diego Food Bank hosted yet another fabulous fundraising event, the 2016 San Diego Blues Festival. With perfectly sunny weather and refreshing bay breezes, thousands of people descended upon Embarcadero Marina Park North for a fun day of food, booze and blues! My husband and I were lucky to attend for our very first time and we had a blast. The well-attended event raised money to help the San Diego Food Bank feed those in need.
The San Diego Food Bank kicked off the weekend’s festivities with a VIP pre-party at House of Blues San Diego on Friday night. We were treated to a private performance by Watermelon Slim while noshing on tacos and sipping local brews. This VIP pre-party served, in part, to thank the generous donors who helped to make the San Diego Blues Festival possible. AimLoan.com served as title sponsor and other sponsors included Baker Electric, US Bank and Lyft among many others.
On Saturday, the San Diego Blues Festival main event kicked off at noon and included musical performances throughout the day on two separate stages. Los Lobos headlined the event and other performers included Nikki Hill, Bobby Rush and Chris Cain as well as several others. There were 2 VIP viewing areas that included shaded seating and a special catered lunch. There were also food and drinks available for purchase throughout the event.
It was a gorgeous day in San Diego for a Blues Festival and I’m so glad we were able to attend. San Diego Food Bank President & CEO James Floros attended both the pre-party and the Blues Festival and was readily accessible for questions about the event or the food bank in general. I even spoke with him about having our family volunteer at the food bank soon!
