Oh, and in case you were curious about our first electricity bill after going solar…we went from $364 to $22…and this wasn’t even a full month on solar power. We did get a separate gas bill for $40, but still, not bad. Our financing payments for our Sungevity panels are $78/month, so in our first (partial) month on solar, we saved over $200!
*Update October 2016* We’ve had our solar panels for 6 months now and got through the heat of summer in San Diego by running our AC almost constantly. I added up our past 6 months worth of electricity bills and compared them to the same 6 months last year, April-October. The savings are a whopping $1,656 which is $276/month!! With a solar financing payment of only $78, we’re still saving a full $200 a month by going solar. At this rate, we should recoup the cost of the panels in 38 months, or just over 3 years. Worth every penny!
