Giving Back to Schools with Schoola
If you’re a parent, I would bet that somewhere around your house you have heaps and piles of clothes that your children have outgrown. Perhaps you’re waiting for a garage sale or looking for a friend who may be able to use them. What if I told you that you could earn money for your child’s school by donating those old outgrown clothes? Schoola sells lightly worn children’s clothing online and donates 40% of the proceeds back to the school of the donor’s choosing, how awesome is that?! But wait, it gets better! By just requesting a donation bag through the Schoola website, $1 will be donated to help fund the music program at the KIPP Academy, a small school in the Bronx that helps underprivileged and special needs children to get the education they deserve. Additionally, if you need to replenish your children’s clothing with some larger sizes, you can also shop on Schoola and support the KIPP Academy’s music program with $1 from every purchase being donated. As a bonus, if my links in this post generate the most donation bag requests and/or purchases from Schoola, my very own son’s school will get a $1000 donation from Schoola. It’s a win-win-win!

The Importance of Music in Schools
We all know that cutbacks in school funding in recent years have left a real void in education, particularly around arts and music. As a teen, I credit my involvement in my school choir with getting me back on track after a rough start to junior high school and being mixed up with the wrong crowd. Choir gave me something to look forward to every day, and it gave me a reason to keep my grades up so that I could continue participating. I learned how to read music, I learned an appreciation for writing and performing music and I learned how to work as a team to produce something wonderful. I made life long friends through my involvement in school choir, nearly a dozen of whom I still speak to today, nearly 25 years later. Sadly enough, many kids will be denied these types of life-altering experiences due to education cutbacks. This is where Schoola can really help! Not only do you earn money for your own child’s school by donating clothing, but you can help support other schools with a clear vision for success (like the KIPP Academy) by shopping on Schoola. Please consider donating your children’s outgrown clothing and/or purchasing gently used clothing from Schoola. You will be helping your own child’s school, the KIPP Academy, and potentially even my son’s school!
